The grapes for this wine mostly come from the Stellenbosch region and the balance are sourced from select coastal vineyards including significant portions from Paarl, Durbanville and Swartland and some special parcels in Breedekloof. The Stellenbosch vineyards usually deliver structure and texture while the Swartland, Paarl, Durbanville and Breedekloof grapes lend more fruit and freshness to the wine. Owing to the nature of the bush vines, careful canopy management was carried out so that no bunches were exposed to excessive sunlight and to ensure even ripening of the grapes. We had good rainfall in winter 2018 after 4 years of drought. Moderate summer with small spells of rain helped to prolong the ripening period. 2019 is a brilliant Chenin Blanc vintage in the Cape.
